Diabetes
iabetes is an autoimmune disease affecting only a single organ. Fifty percent more women than men suffer from diabetes. The main causes of diabetes are obesity and poor eating habits.
Special B cells in the pancreas are responsible for producing insulin, which regulates the amount of sugar in the blood. In childhood diabetes, antibodies produced by the body destroy the B cells. This ends the pancreas' ability to secrete insulin, which causes blood sugar to soar. The kidneys are forced to work harder to excrete all the excess blood sugar, and water and minerals are excreted along with it.
Diabetes is frequently accompanied by heart disease, scurvy, and blindness, and may even lead to coma and death. To reduce your chance of getting diabetes, control your diet, get adequate exercise, and strengthen your immune system; make sure to have your blood sugar tested regularly.
